Guided Wildlife Tour at UWEC
Begin your morning exploring the Uganda Wildlife Conservation Education Centre (widely known as the Entebbe Zoo). Unlike traditional zoos, UWEC functions as a rescue and rehabilitation center set within a lush, forested environment on the lake edge. Highlights: encounter rescued lions, cheetahs, leopards, rhinos, giraffes, elephants, shoebill storks, and multiple monkey species roaming in spacious, natural enclosures. Opt for a behind-the-scenes keeper experience to get even closer to select animals.
12:15 PM – 01:30 PM
Lakeside Lunch
Break for lunch at a scenic restaurant inside or immediately adjacent to the centre overlooking the tranquil waters of Lake Victoria.
01:45 PM – 03:30 PM
Entebbe Botanical Gardens Stroll
Head just down the road to the historic Entebbe Botanical Gardens established in 1898. Take a peaceful guided walk through towering native trees, bamboo forests, and medicinal plant zones while spotting colobus monkeys, vervet monkeys, and countless forest birds. (Fun historical note: parts of the original 1940s Tarzan movies were filmed here!)
